Home to amazing reefs, rocks, walls, wrecks and caves, the dive sites in Central Sulawesi are the stuff of dreams. Here divers can swim with a huge number of species, from big to small and many endemics. All levels of divers are sure to enjoy diving in Central Sulawesi, but underwater photographers will capture some of their best-ever shots while diving in this pristine environment.
The Togian Islands are the best-known diving destination in Central Sulawesi. They are located in the Gulf of Tomini, which is reputed to be the calmest deep-water bay in the world. As such, these islands offer excellent training opportunities. The six main islands play host to over 819 species of fish and several endemic species, including 3 species of coral. The crystal-clear waters are perfect for exploring the walls of this group of islands.
Wakatobi National Park is a marine national park, Wakatobi is located in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. Rising from the Banda topology it is known as the Tukang Besi Archipelago. A couple of the easiest ways to get to Sulawesi, Indonesia is either from Bali, Indonesia where you are able to fly direct or from Singapore to Sulawesi.
WAKATOBI is an acronym for the islands WA-ngi, KA-ledupa, TO-mia, and BI-nongko. Celebrated for having some of the best diving and snorkeling spots in the world. The area of Southeast Sulawesi has been growing in popularity as a diving paradise, as it has some of the healthiest Corals on the planet. The fish are abundant, and the healthy Coral reef has some unusual topology. This makes the dives in the Wakatobi Archipelago Park, renown, and it is defiantly a recommended place to visit on our liveaboard, as Wakatobi is unique and very remote.
The coral-reef are unique with limestone fossil due to a drier climate, the reefs come with a variety of topography from walls, and drop-offs to overhangs and coral gardens. A huge variety of ocean animals are present at all of the dive sites. There are both larger pelagic, such as manta rays and whale sharks are seen all year. But, the Sulawesi regency is more known for the fantastic small macro critters finds. Pilot whales visit the region for four months each year.
