1.3 Are the Cruises Snorkeling and Diving Friendly?
Yes, all Teman cruises are designed to be both snorkeling- and diving-friendly.
We organize routes where dive sites and shallow reefs are close together, allowing snorkelers and divers to explore side by side.

Facilities & Comfort:
• 2 large dinghies (tenders) for diving and snorkeling operations
• Dive platform with easy access and safety setup
• Snorkeling guide and dive guide(s) always onboard
• Plenty of leisure options: kayaking, paddle boarding, beach visits, and nature excursions

Whether you’re a passionate diver or a relaxed explorer, Teman’s itineraries are planned so everyone enjoys every stop.
1.4 Are Children Allowed on Board?
Yes, children are welcome on Teman, with a few important guidelines:

• Under 4 years old: Accepted only on private charters. No dedicated child rate, but infants/toddlers sharing the bed with parents may be accepted free of charge or at discounted rate.
• 4 years and above: Pay the standard adult rate.
• Under 8 years old: Not usually accepted on Open Trips, unless the trip already includes another family or the parents agree to specific conditions.
• Private Charters: Always family-friendly, and our crew is used to welcoming children on board safely.

We always do our best to match families on the same open-trip departures to ensure the best possible atmosphere for everyone but can't guarantee availability.

Note: Children are warmly welcomed on board Teman Liveaboard, but their safety and supervision remain the full responsibility of their parents or guardians.
Our crew members are experienced with families and will always act with care, but they are not babysitters and cannot take responsibility for supervising children at any time.

For safety reasons:
• At least one parent or responsible adult must accompany the child at all times, during both onboard and off-boat activities (snorkeling, beach visits, kayaking, etc.).
• Children must never be left unattended, inside cabins, on deck, or in the water.
• The sea and the boat environment can present unpredictable risks, constant vigilance is required.

By confirming a booking, guests acknowledge and accept that Teman Liveaboard, its owners, and its crew cannot be held liable for any incident, injury, or accident resulting from a lack of parental supervision or non-compliance with safety instructions.
1.5 What About Flights?
Teman does not include or book flights, but we are always happy to help you find the best connections and advise on timings.
All international flights must go through either Bali (Ngurah Rai International Airport – DPS) or Jakarta (Soekarno-Hatta International Airport – CGK) before continuing on a domestic flight to your cruise departure port.

Main domestic arrival airports for our cruises:
• ✈️ Sorong (SOQ) – for Raja Ampat cruises
• ✈️ Labuan Bajo (LBJ) – for Komodo cruises
• ✈️ Ambon (AMQ) – for Banda Sea / Ring of Fire itineraries
• ✈️ Kaimana (KNG) – for Triton Bay / Kaimana itineraries
• ✈️ Kalabahi, Alor (ARD) – for Alor itineraries

Travel recommendations:
• Arrive at least one day before your cruise (highly recommended) and plan one night after disembarkation (optinal).
• Domestic flights in Indonesia are sometimes delayed or rescheduled without notice, this buffer ensures a stress-free connection.
• For Open Trips, the boat cannot wait long for delayed guests as it affects all passengers.

In case of delay:
If a guest’s flight is severely delayed, we can arrange a private speedboat transfer from the harbor to the vessel (subject to availability and at the guest’s expense).

• Open Water (OW) divers are also accepted, but under specific safety conditions (see below).

8.3 What are the park and port fees, and why are they not included in the cruise rate?
Park and port fees are mandatory government and regional charges collected to support marine conservation and local administration in Indonesia’s protected areas. These fees go directly to local authorities, national park offices, and port administrations, not to Teman Liveaboard.

They cover:
• Access to marine national parks and protected islands.
• Local tourism and conservation permits.
• Port entry, anchoring, and harbor clearance fees.
• Environmental maintenance programs that help preserve coral reefs, marine life, and coastal communities.

Because these fees are regulated and can change without notice by local governments, we keep them excluded from the cruise rate.

Current park & port fees:
• Komodo National Park: 35€/pax/day
• Raja Ampat: 220€/pax/cruise
• Banda Sea: 300€/pax/cruise

Fees are payable in cash on board (EUR, USD, AUD, SGD or IDR). In some itineraries, if multiple regions are visited, combined fees may apply.
8.4 What is the tipping policy on board?
Tipping is not mandatory but is a long-standing custom in Indonesia’s liveaboard industry to acknowledge the crew’s hard work.

The Teman Liveaboard team works tirelessly, often from early morning until late at night to ensure guest comfort, safety, and unforgettable experiences both above and below the water.

We recommend a gratuity between 5% and 15% of the cruise rate per person, which aligns with the industry standard across most liveaboards in Indonesia.

That said, tips are entirely at each guest’s discretion and should reflect their personal level of satisfaction and the quality of service received. The total amount collected is shared equally among all 11 crew members and additional freelance staff on board.
8.5 How can I pay for my cruise?

10.4 Climate & Clothing
Indonesia is tropical year-round with warm temperatures (28–32°C during the day) and pleasant evenings (24–26°C).

Each region has its own nuances:
• Komodo (April–October): Dry and sunny, ideal for light clothing, hats, and sunglasses.
• Banda Sea (September–November): Warm and humid, light cotton clothes recommended.
• Raja Ampat (November–April): Warm, more humid, with occasional tropical showers.

Recommended items:
• Light, breathable clothes for daytime.
• A hoodie or light jacket for cooler evenings or windy nights on deck.
• Several swimwear sets, you’ll be in and out of the water often!
• Sandals or flip-flops for the boat and beach.
• Walking shoes for excursions on land (mandatory for hikes or island walks).
• Hat or cap and sunglasses for sun protection.

We provide shampoo, shower gel, bath towels, and deck towels, so you don’t need to bring your own.
10.5 Sun Protection
The Indonesian sun is strong, even on cloudy days.
We highly recommend bringing reef-safe sunscreen to help protect the fragile coral ecosystems.

• Avoid sunscreens with oxybenzone or octinoxate.
• We sell eco-friendly reef-safe sunscreen onboard for 10€/100ml bottle.

A rash guard or lycra top is also great protection for snorkeling and diving.
10.6 Dive Equipment & Recommendations
If you plan to dive, here’s what to know:
• You’re welcome to bring your own gear; storage space is available for personal dive equipment.
• We offer complete gear rental onboard, please inform us in advance if needed.
• Dive computers are mandatory for all divers.
• Nitrox is available for certified divers at 5€/dive.
• Divers must bring their certification card and valid diving insurance.

Diving Gloves Policy
Gloves are strictly forbidden for all divers across every destination where Teman Liveaboard operates, including Raja Ampat, Komodo, and the Banda Sea.

This rule exists to protect the coral reefs and marine life. Gloves can encourage accidental contact with the reef, leading to damage to delicate corals and potential harm to marine creatures.
10.7 Water Temperatures & Wetsuit Recommendations
Water temperatures in Indonesia vary slightly depending on the destination and region:

• Raja Ampat:
27–30°C, warm and pleasant all year round. Perfect for 3mm wetsuits or even shorties for non-sensitive divers.
• Komodo:
Central & North Komodo: 26–30°C, generally warm and calm.
South Komodo: 24–26°C, colder due to deep upwellings and strong currents.
• Banda Sea:
25–29°C, temperatures can vary as we move across long distances and different islands, but mostly comfortable.

We recommend a 3mm long wetsuit as the most versatile and comfortable option for all destinations.

If you’re sensitive to cold, you can:
• Bring a 5mm wetsuit, or
• Use a neoprene hoodie or sharkskin/undersuit layer for extra warmth.

Shorties are perfectly fine for divers who don’t get cold easily, especially in Raja Ampat where the water stays warm throughout the season.
10.8 Health & Safety
We have:
• A complete first aid kit onboard.
• 1 large emergency oxygen tank and 2 portable oxygen kits with masks.

• Motion sickness tablets (if you are sensitive to motion).
• Any allergy or emergency medicine you may need.
10.9 Electronics & Essentials
• European (Type C) sockets are available in every cabin and common area (220V).
• Bring a power bank or extension cable if needed, we also provide extra cables upon request.
• Camera and GoPro users: Bring extra batteries and SD cards; electricity is always available but charging ports can get busy.

• A reusable water bottle or tumbler, though we provide one for your cruise duration, which you can refill with our mineralized water system.
• Small backpack or tote bag for day trips.
• Books, e-reader, or music for relaxation time between dives or excursions.
10.11 Drones & Aerial Photography
Flying a drone during your cruise is allowed in most areas, and Raja Ampat, Komodo, and Banda Sea offer spectacular aerial views. However, there are important rules and safety guidelines to follow:

Permissions & Flying Zones
• Drones are permitted in many regions, but some protected areas require advance authorization and a paid flying ticket.
• Permit fees vary depending on the area, generally between 1.000.000 IDR and 10.000.000 IDR.
• Our Cruise Director will always inform you where and when it’s safe and legal to fly.

Flying from the Boat
• Flying your drone while the boat is cruising is possible, but only with approval from the Captain and Cruise Director.
• Take-off and landing can be challenging, especially for inexperienced pilots.
• The safest landing methods are:
• Using a large blanket held by two crew members, the drone can gently crash into it, automatically stopping its propellers for a safe recovery.
• Hand catching, which is more difficult but possible with caution.
• Landing directly on the boat deck while in motion is not possible.

Responsibility Disclaimer
• Drone operation is entirely at the guest’s own risk.
• Teman Liveaboard and its crew cannot be held responsible for any damage, loss, or malfunction of drones or related equipment.

• Fire extinguishers and safety equipment located throughout the vessel
• Flare guns and emergency signaling devices on board

Your Cruise Director will conduct a full safety briefing on the first day so every guest is familiar with procedures and equipment locations.
11.3 Is tipping mandatory?

11.4 Life On Board
Teman is a spacious 33-meter traditional phinisi designed to host a maximum of 12 guests, ensuring comfort, privacy, and space for everyone.

The layout includes:
• A large semi-open dining area and lounge
• A wide sun deck with bean bags and shaded areas
• A dedicated dive deck for all watersport activities

Even when fully booked, the boat never feels crowded. Our crew members are experienced professionals, always attentive, discreet when needed, and happy to share stories and laughter when you feel like it.
Your Cruise Director is always available to help, guide, and share his knowledge about the region, wildlife, and culture.
11.5 Engine, Noise & Nighttime Comfort
Teman is a traditional wooden phinisi, not a modern steel yacht, which is part of her charm. However, guests should know:

• The wood naturally cracks and creaks, especially with swell or humidity. This is completely normal.
• A small generator runs at night to supply electricity and air conditioning, creating a soft white noise throughout the ship.
• During long routes or crossings (for example, to Wayag, Misool, or across the Banda Sea), the main engine may operate at night to ensure smooth travel between remote areas.
• Our Captain and Cruise Director always plan to cruise mainly during the day whenever possible.
If you are sensitive to sound, we recommend bringing earplugs for a quieter sleep.
11.6 Games & Entertainment
Life on board is lively but relaxed. Between dives and island explorations, guests can enjoy:

• A flat-screen Smart TV connected to the internet, perfect for watching movies or YouTube.
• A JBL Partybox sound system with two microphones for karaoke nights or special celebrations.
• A selection of board games and card games for casual fun.

Whether you want to socialize, relax under the stars, or enjoy a peaceful evening with music, there’s always something to make your time aboard Teman unforgettable.

Diving Gloves Policy
Gloves are strictly forbidden for all divers across every destination where Teman Liveaboard operates, including Raja Ampat, Komodo, and the Banda Sea.

• Raja Ampat: 220€/pax/cruise
• Banda Sea: 300€/pax/cruise

Fees are payable in cash on board (EUR, USD, AUD, SGD or IDR). In some itineraries, if multiple regions are visited, combined fees may apply.
8.4 What is the tipping policy on board?
Tipping is not mandatory but is a long-standing custom in Indonesia’s liveaboard industry to acknowledge the crew’s hard work.

A rash guard or lycra top is also great protection for snorkeling and diving.

• Basic seasickness, allergy, and pain medication.

Please bring your personal medication, such as:
• Prescribed medicine (e.g., insulin, heart treatment).
• Dry bags are useful for land excursions and dinghy transfers.
10.10 Extras & Comfort Items
• Cash (in EUR, USD, SGD, AUD or IDR) for crew tips, park fees, or souvenirs.

• Please always respect local communities, wildlife, and fellow guests when flying.
11.1 How many crew are onboard?
• 10 fixed crew (captain, engineer, chef, steward, etc.)
• 1 Cruise Director
• Up to 2 dive guides
11.2 Boat Safety
Safety is our top priority on Teman Liveaboard. The vessel is fully equipped with all required safety gear and maintained to international liveaboard standards.

On board you’ll find:
• Life jackets in every cabin and in all common areas
• Multiple life rings strategically placed around the boat
• 2 life rafts with a total capacity of up to 30 people
• 2 dinghy boats for transfers, diving, snorkeling, and excursions
• Sonar, radar, GPS, and VHF radios for constant monitoring and communication
• Fire extinguishers and safety equipment located throughout the vessel
• Flare guns and emergency signaling devices on board

Your Cruise Director will conduct a full safety briefing on the first day so every guest is familiar with procedures and equipment locations.
11.3 Is tipping mandatory?

Boat Safety
• All cruises are fully insured and comply with Indonesian maritime safety regulations.
• Each cabin has life jackets, and the vessel carries an emergency raft, fire extinguishers, and first aid kits.
• Divers must have valid dive insurance (DAN, DiveAssure, or equivalent).
• Travel insurance is strongly recommended for all guests.

• The sea and the boat environment can present unpredictable risks, constant vigilance is required.
